After a decent period of Covid hiatus in Thailand, restaurant are starting to reopen their doors again apart from delivery service. Benares is a modern Indian cuisine from affluent area of Mayfair, United Kingdom which has opened their first branch in Bangkok since 2019. Firstly, the ambiance are luxurious and classic with black and gold theme which seems like a perfect fit for a special occasion. Staffs are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about their extensive menu.

    • Butter chicken is one of the most well-known Indian curry around the world. Consisted of marinated chicken with salt, pepper, garlic ginger, yogurt and etc. (depends of each recipe).

      For the curry part, I usually see Garam masala, Tumeric, Cumin, red chili powder, onion, a can of crushed tomatoes, garlic and ginger and variety of spices from each recipe.

      My issue with some butter chicken will be Ghee (butter) since it could make you feel bloated easily so balancing those smooth texture with enjoyable experience is a basic for butter chicken. Also, aromatic butter chicken goes well with rice and Naan bread.

      • Thanks. I had no idea as I’ve never heard of it and since I don’t eat indian food that would explain why I hadn’t heard of it.

        It sounds good, but my days of eating any remotely spicy are pretty much done 😀

      • I’ve had the same reaction first time trying out Indian cuisine too lol.

        Spicy takes some time to get used to. I would still recommend trying a small level of spiciness if you ever had a chance to try out some Indian/Thai cuisine since those are where the flavors are.
