Cast Iron Burgerhaus

DSC06201

Cast Iron burgerhaus is a recently opened burger place near BTS Aree station. Offering burger, craft beer and milkshake which seems like a trend nowadays. Still, hearing about thick cut bacon and dry-aged burger patty sounds interesting for me and I went for a little adventure.

First of all, I always despise tall chair in restaurant which does not feel comfortable and seems like a challenge when intoxicated. (Not sure if it reminds me when I’m young on a baby seat and have no control over what to eat) However, tall table and chair in this place are well-balance with sufficient area so it’s a good experience for me.

Bacon Cheeseburger – Patty, double cheddar cheese, thick-cut bacon, balsamic ketchup

First of all, I look for patty juiciness and seasoning. Both are well-prepped. I would say that the juiciness of patty are quite satisfying for me. Bacon adds a little crunch and balsamic ketchup provide a little sourness kick for appetizing feeling. Another advantage of simple burger is that there is no fall out components and resulted in less messy finished plate.

Steak cut fries with paprika texture are firm and a little bit soft texture. Personally, I like to size the fries like this and paprika is an interesting choice for a flavor.

Onion rings – Good onion rings, a little bit too much for 2 persons from my personal experiences haha.

Pork chops steak (300 g) – free range and herb-fed local high welfare pork

To be honest, the visual of this plate are stunning comparing to my recent pork chops in Thailand. Sous-vide cooked pork chops are tender and firm with well-balance seasoning. Served with Jeaw(spicy) and Chimichurri sauce. In my opinion, Jeaw sauce could be more spicy and it could bring more excitement to this plate. Mashed potatoes are quite enjoyable too.

DSC06214

Overall, the place are quite interesting and the bill came out around 900 THB which seems reasonable for the meal. The staff and owner are attentive. Making this one interesting burgerhaus to visit in Aree.

DSC06042DSC06041

Chicken OLIO

Fried chicken with sweet & sour sauce. At first, I have my doubt that the chicken could be too hard & sweet like as many of the place. The chicken came out as a perfect appetizer to prepare me for pasta & pizza. Chicken texture are crispy outside and soft inside. Seasoning of sweet & sour are well-balanced. Would definitely order again when I got the chance.

LINGUINE AGLIO E “OLIO” PEPERONCINO With Bacon

Linguine are prepped at a perfect texture. Bacon size are thick which reminds me of popular thick bacon size when I’m in Japan. Olive oil proportion are just right and make Linguine not too oily. Topped with balanced seasoning, this menu just became one of the best pasta I’ve had in Bangkok.

DSC06044

PENNE PUTTENESCA

Well-prepped Penne texture. The sauce leans toward tomato flavor with olive and anchovy.

DSC06051

TOM YUM Seafood Black Pizza

A touch of Tom Yum spice flavor. Still, the spiciness are still far away for real Tom Yum though. Pizza texture are thin & crispy with sweetness from shrimp, squid and lime sourness. An interesting choice for a fusion menu.

DSC06056

Cheese Cake with raspberry sauce

Smooth cheesecake texture and moderate sourness from raspberry. Added with crunchiness from surrounding bits as an amazing dessert.

My main target is lobster and here we go!

DSC05754DSC05762

Garlic & Butter grilled Lobster – The aroma are jsut amazing. lobster texture are fresh and little bit chewy. Seasoning are well balance. I just wish they gave more butter sauce to have with a rice.

DSC05764DSC05766DSC05773

Pad Cha Scallops – The size and texture of scallops are good. However, the seasoning are lacking which leads to some bland taste which could be more spicy. Quite disappointing.

DSC05775

Grilled shrimp – Overcooked and the texture was too dry. Moreover, shrimp oil in the head are all gone T_T

DSC05759

Omelette – Oily in texture. this plate pass the standard. Nothing more than that.

DSC05774

Krua Kriang Nam

DSC05645

“Krua Kriang Nam” literally means Kitchen by the river in Thai language. The place clearly demonstrates river side ambiance with breeze near the Chaophraya river with some boat sailing around as an alternative choice of traveling in Thailand.

DSC05647DSC05648DSC05653DSC05654DSC05662

Stir fried Coconut shoot with shrimp and Thai Chili

Coconut shoot provide firm texture which supported by spiciness from chili and sweetness shrimp. Making a great combination with rice to relief spiciness.

DSC05663

Small Crab Somtum (Thai spicy papaya salad)

Somtum is an all-around dish with spiciness from chili, sourness from lime, saltiness from fish fermented sauce and sweetness. This dish exhibits how enjoyable Somtum should be.

DSC05667

Grilled River Shrimp

This is one of me personal favorite. The texture of shrimp are so firm and sweet. Topped with spicy seafood sauce. Then mix the shrimp oil from the head with rice and enjoy one of the most simple and delicious menu Chaopraya river could offer.

DSC05669DSC05670DSC05673

Fried frog legs

Pretty sure this menu might excite and freak some people out at the same time. I gotta admit that used to have the same feeling too. Then I tried one haha. The skin part are so crispy and the leg part have such high similarity to chicken firmness.

Nowhere BKK

Nowhere [n.] /ˈnoʊwər/ or /ˈnaʊhɪə/

DSC05438

Every once in a while, I discover new place with lots of exotic view and fresh inspiration. For this week, Nowhere is the place that I fell in love at first glance. The decoration are spot on with infinite stairs that defines “journey” as a fundamental part of life.

DSC05462

I arrived around 5 pm. Natural light at that moment gave out some warm and tranquility feeling. On contrary to the location in Ekkamai which is one of the most busiest area in Bangkok, the place are perfect for hanging out after a long day.

DSC05475DSC05440DSC05442DSC05448

Outdoor tables with rooftop views on Ekkamai area.

DSC05449DSC05450DSC05481DSC05463

Let’s get started with some amazing cuisine Nowhere has to offer.

DSC05525DSC05489

Watermelon Salad – Inspired by Thai traditional “Tang Mo Pla Haeng” Tossed watermelons served with fresh baby spinach, topped with Feta cheese and Bonito flakes, and seasoned with Sumac vinaigrette to convey Umami flavor.

Watermelon packs a fresh and cool punch with crunchy texture supported with mild Feta cheese flavor and distinct flavored bonito flakes. Fresh baby spinach and Sumac vinaigrette also packs balanced flavor and brings harmony to the dish.

DSC05526

Tumeric chicken – Marinated chicken wings served with deep-fried tumeric, & herbs and spicy apple salad (Twisted from famous fried chicken at pattaya beach)

At first I thought that the chicken would be dry & crispy like most of Tumeric chicken in Thailand. The texture seems to be more like buffalo wings. Seasoning are so well-developed with sweet, mild spicy and a little bit of sour. One of the best Tumeric chicken I ever had.

DSC05522

Fried Sardinella – Served with Yuzu Togarashi, horseradish mayo and lemon.

First time trying fried Sardinella. The fish could be eaten whole without and small bones at all. Texture are kind of crispy with a twist of lemon and mayo defines as most suitable for drinking snack.

DSC05518

Japanese Carnitas Pizza – Japanese pork Canitas, asparagus, miso tomato sauce, leek, garlic, mozzarella and parmesan. Carnitas: Mexican braised pork in hot water until tender

Twist of Mexican and Japanese food, now that’s one exciting choice. Pizza texture located on thick and soft area. Carnitas texture are just melt in my mouth with mildly sweetness flavor. Added with creamy cheesy texture. It’s one of the pizza I couldn’t have enough.

DSC05535

A mess of Nowhere – Meringue with dark chocolate and rum sauce served with yogurt cream and fresh strawberries. (Inspired by Eton Mess, a classic English dessert invented around 1920s at Eton College,UK)

I would say this is a “Hot mess” in positive way. Dark chocolate are partly bitter and sweet in the perfect harmony. Meringue are not too dry and compliments with melty chocolate and distinct kick from rum with sour & sweetness from strawberries.

DSC05376

GISMO is a casual all comfortable all-day eatery. The restaurant is located at Sukhumvit 39 Boulevard in the heart of fierce competition of gourmet business in Sukhumvit area. Restaurant’s ambiance are relaxing with lots of greenery the place is not crazy close to each other like some restaurant nowadays.

DSC05386DSC05385

Similar as amazing decoration, staffs were well-trained and very informative as expected from top notch restaurant.

DSC05396DSC05411

Since I’m here for some business. I ordered a light lunch BBQ chicken thigh and Fettucine Salmon Cream Gogonzola.

DSC05422

BBQ chicken thigh – Tomato salsa, slaw & sesame

Chicken are well seasoned and not too sweet as some BBQ sauce. The texture are still crispy and boneless. Tomato salsa are so fresh and green apple salad packs such an acidity.  This was a well-balanced menu for an appetizer.

DSC05417

Fettucine Salmon Cream Gogonzola – Seasonal mushroom, baked tomato, dill leaf & fume Gogonzola cream sauce

The texture of Fettucine are just perfect. Gogonzola cream are not too thick and salty. Still, salmon texture are little bit too dry for my taste.
