Place

Aree and Saphankhwai area has always been an unique and vibrant with new and exciting place popping up when you are least expected. Most of the places claim themselves as a friendly ambiance like your friends house still, it is quite rare to finally find a truly comfortable restaurant with amazing dishes.

To be honest, I am quite excited to visited Place after reviewing their menu with their exquisite ingredients combined with affordable prices. So I just went for a visit as they proceed in their third month of openings. Place are located in Inthramara Soi 4 which is quite a rare sight for these area. There are only around 8 seats at the moment so I strongly recommend booking before visiting to avoid any disappointment.

Starting with their fine dining ambiance, staff are friendly and truly knowledgeable about their menu. Their special mocktail and dishes are just a waves of exciting information from fresh techniques to combination of such curious taste like sweetness from Chrysanthemum with sour and acidity of orange juice. This just getting me too exhilarated.

Starting with Green & Balsamic with cherry tomatoes, Fresh and bitter free green salad with not too overpowered balsamic. I personally like a cherry tomatoes with a little bit of salted flavor just to kick start the full meal.

Black Truffle Carbonara are just beautifully presented. The aroma of Truffle and portion are just insanely unbelievable. As contrast to widely too creamy and too salty Carbonara, this dish was perfected to balanced seasoning and texture. Also, plus side on crispy yet not sticky Bacon on top. As they are having promotion of 50% off of this dish. The final price came out as 260 THB which is around 8.3 USD or 870 JPY. My hands are still shaking as of now due to the concept of how good this deal are lol.

A5 Tajima Wagyu (100 g) garlic fried rice, pickled shallot, crispy garlic and chives. First of all Tajima Wagyu are just extremely satisfying. I just wish they slice it in a longer portion though. Well-round fried rice with a plus of chives and pickled shallot.

Overall, I would say that Place are quite a gem around this area and I would personally revisit this place again really soon before it became more well-known are became more difficult to book a table. Last mention of the atmosphere, totally love it how friendly the owner (Khun Nam) and staffs are. Two thumbs up for Place!

Buster’s Fish & Chips

Bangkok weather has been on a rainy side lately which is a perfect for some simple Fish & Chips meal. Buster has just opened August 2020 and I am eager to visit the place to see how these hype are holding up.

Located in Phrom Pong area, their menu are listed from variety of Fish & Chips from Cod, Haddock, Halibut and Snapper. Apart from Snapper, other fishes are imported and frozen. There are also pie, sides dishes and desserts.

Since I would like to try a more tender and light texture. I went with Cod Fish & Chips [330 THB net without any charges] No charge is a pretty much big meal around here so that’s a good sign. For a choice of sauce I went with Tar Tar sauce.

First of all, amazing portion of Fish & chips for the price. These chips are one of the best chips I had around here, crispy with a decent amount of satisfying texture.

They also provide malt vinegar, ketchup, salt and peppers for seasoning. After a careful consideration, I realized that Fish & chips are good in their simple way. However, a similar Thai Fried snapper/ Sea bass with spicy and sour sauce are just so hard to beat when it comes to the flavors. So there is a time for each menu to shine in a different ways.

Cod’s texture are light and enjoyable. Still it is a little bit flaky too. Their beer batter are crispy yet not too oily. Would love to try out other fish in the future.

Pho Kitchen

Recently I had been visiting numerous freshly opened restaurant by passionate and innovative chef around Bangkok. All of these places have one thing in common as they run their business with quality menu which reflects their background to their customers. Pho Kitchen are hidden in Ladphrao soi 29 which could be difficult to access under rush hour. Luckily, the place is not quite far from MRT Ladphrao station.

So what is special about Pho Kitchen? First of all, it took me whole month reservation before my first visit due to seat limitation and since all of their menu are freshly made in an open kitchen (not just an open kitchen with glass protection, this one you can literally smell your menu being cooked). That leads to the second point where you could order your menu and take your time to study and decide menu before visiting the place without pressure.

Organic Salad (Organic Veggies, Chibi Tomato, Fried Banana, Seasonal Veggies) [110 THB]

A generous portion of salad originated from A little farmer in Nakornpathom area of Thailand. More beautiful Veggies are placed in Salad plate when less aesthetic ones are fed to Chicken in their farm which their eggs are also used in this restaurant. All green veggies and tomato are just enjoyable. I like the idea where small spliced banana are presented for a small crunchy kick and still not overpower the salad which is the same for pumpkin portion.

Summer Pasta (Spinach pasta, tomato, onion, bacon mushroom) [135 THB]

I would say this pasta is just suitable for a refreshing summer with a acidity from tomato and sweetness from supporting elements.

Carbonara Pasta (Spinach pasta, cream, Parmesan cheese, Bacon, mushroom, egg yolk) [120 THB]

This menu just amazed me. Normally Carbonara pasta are heavy and packed with cream and cheese which is yummy at first and ended up too fillings sometimes. This alternative twist are just light and refreshing. I ended up finishing the plate without feeling too full at all which is a rare occurrence.

Forest Bacon Pizza (Homemade Marinara Sauce, Bell pepper, Onion, Mushroom and Bacon) [199 THB]

Firstly, that 199 THB is a good deal for this pizza. Remember when I said the kitchen is just next to me? Cooking odor just leave more excited for this pizza. Seasoning are just satisfying for this menu. Only improvement for me is crispier bottom crust.

Overall, I would say reservation are worth the wait and pricing are just net price without any service charge. If you are taller than me I would say watch out for the roof since toilet roof are just same with my height. Khun Gig and Khun Mosh (The owners) are just friendly and passionate about their restaurant.
